We’ve just returned from our two week stay at the Holiday Village Viva, and we had a great time. Even though most people stay all inclusive (as we did), the rooms are actually two room apartments and are very spacious, new and clean.
We stayed in block 4 facing the pool which I would highly recommend, as you have a nice view of the pool and gardens but are away from the entertainment and restaurant, and so it is nice and quiet when you retire for the evening.
I have never seen so many members of staff in one hotel and everyone works very hard to ensure that you have a wonderful time – hardly any wait at the bars, no wait for tables in the restaurant, and this was in the six week summer holidays! Unfortunately, I think the food could have been better but it was all right.
The pools are large and nice and warm – just heated by the sun I believe. Sun beds are unlocked at various places around the pool at 8.30am and so we got up about that time and never had a problem getting some under a parasol.
The best thing about the hotel are the daytime and evening entertainment staff, I really can’t praise them enough for fun, enthusiasm and professionalism.
Daytime – Although there are organised kids clubs which are very professionally run and I’m sure excellent, my children were too shy to go and so they joined in the other group events open to all ages around the pool and surrounding area. There is a weekly timetable of these events (of which there are about six per day), and they are announced over the tannoy. Our family joined in with snorkelling, inflatable canoes, raft building, bowling quizes etc. etc. brilliant!
Evening – For a change from alot of other package holidays we have been on, the evening entertainment staff are not the same people who organise the daytime activities just trying to sing, they are professional singers and dancers and really can entertain. We watched the entertainment every night and thoroughly enjoyed it – sometimes they bring in outside acts as well, but personally I preferred the resident entertainers.
The resort of C’an Picafort is not very appealing but we hardly moved from the hotel and so it didn’t really bother us.
One warning if you are thinking of booking – This is definatly a family hotel and I would not book if you are a couple or a group of young people.
